Dothan was a railroad hub for Southeast Florida and the editor of this newspaper mentions each visitor and their relation to local citizens. Many people traveled to Panama City and Florida via this train hub. This 519 page volume is a transcription of articles for the months of September and October 1908 of the Dothan Eagle. Pages are filled with local news, deaths, illnesses and people living in Dothan or traveling through Dothan to Panama City, Atlanta, and southern Florida. The reader develops a sense of awareness of what small town life was like in 1908 Dothan, Alabama.
TThe Editor of The Dothan Eagle, W. T. HALL, published a weekly edition of the paper until September 21, 1908 when he started publishing a daily addition at the request of many fellow citizens of Dothan, Houston County, Alabama. Hall was a very witty, and opinionated man and his philosophy, humor and strong opinions are revealed in this small town newspaper. He was an astute business man and developed a contest to acquire new subscribers for the paper. W. T. Hall was a "yellow-dog" Democrat in the strictest sense of the word and never shied away from voicing his thoughts in the paper.
